The Leap 4 Learning class is a transitional class that has been designed for those students who may need more time to prepare for Kindergarten or those students whose birthdates miss the Sept. 1 cutoff date to enter Kindergarten. This class allows student to gain an opportunity to take a leap into kinder foundational skills of Reading and Math. The program focuses on teaching children through a systematic, explicit instructional plan that includes core concepts such as phonemic awareness, concepts of print, alphabetic principle which leads the children into being able to decode and blend words and practice sound spelling. Each of these important concepts allows children to develop into fluent readers. The Leap 4 Learning students also begin to learn Math through the Saxon Math Program where they begin to explore basic math concepts. Science and Social Studies are taught through integrated activities built into the program.
